Eco Landscaping for your Luxury Villas

Can you imagine that the green zone of your Luxury Villa in Goa can actually be non Eco friendly? The basic idea of Eco friendly is to reduce the strain on the environment by becoming energy and water efficient and here are landscaping ideas to do just the same.

Water Strategically
The best time to water plants is early in the morning. It follows the same idea of an early rise and healthy lifestyle. Watering the plants earl in the morning allows time for excess water to evaporate before the sun gets high in the sky. If you were to water your plants in the mid day, the plants tend to develop sunburn. Install a soak-er hose in your flower bed or a sprinkler system with a timer in your yard to keep the grass lush and green.

Use Less Energy
Energy efficient solar lighting is a far better option than the traditional usage of electricity. Same applies for gardens and landscape lighting. Having a solar power system to light your garden in the evening will definitely reduce both your electricity bill and carbon footprints.

Harvest Rainwater
Why pull in the municipal water supplied for you and drive an excess amount to the plants. Rather have your own little rain water harvesting unit to supply your plants (and yourself probably) the required water you would need. It’s quite the plan since rain water can be easily harvested for re-use and in a state like Goa where the monsoons can bring a heavy quantity of rain, every year. Rain water is better too, as it doesn't contain salts used for purification of water which is not so great for soil.

Skip Bagging Grass Clippings
Getting your grass clipped once a week and leaving it in the lawn is actually good for it as it promotes a hospitable environment for the earth worms and organisms to flourish in the soil. However, putting it off and having you clipping done once a month is definitely bad as the longer blades smother the grass and don’t allow sufficient sunlight on.
